The Experience

What this journey is about and what you can expect.

This is a culturally immersive and active day trip from Moshi to a traditional Chagga village on the fertile slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. It combines nature, local cuisine, and hands-on cultural learning.

Key Highlights:

Scenic Hike to Materuni Waterfalls: An approximately 40-minute guided walk through coffee and banana plantations leads to a stunning 80-meter waterfall. The pool at its base offers a refreshing swim (weather permitting), with potential views of Kilimanjaro.

Authentic Chagga Culture: Learn about the local Chagga people's way of life, history, and traditions directly from your guide throughout the day.

Traditional Lunch & Banana Beer: Enjoy a homemade traditional Chagga lunch at a local home, with the unique opportunity to taste local banana beer (mbege).

Interactive Coffee Tour: Participate in the complete traditional coffee-making process—from bean to cup. Help with roasting, grinding (accompanied by Chagga songs), and finally, savor the coffee you helped prepare.

Perfect Kilimanjaro Foothills Experience: This tour offers an authentic glimpse into the life, agriculture, and natural beauty of the communities living on Africa's highest mountain.

Ideal For: Cultural enthusiasts, coffee lovers, active travelers, and those looking for a meaningful non-safari activity near Moshi. It's perfect for day visitors to the Kilimanjaro region or as a post-climb cultural excursion.

Practical Note: Remember to bring swimwear, a towel, sturdy walking shoes, and cash for optional handicraft purchases or tips
